BIO

Phonché Tatiana Swinson is an artist from Mitchellville, Maryland. She is a senior at Bowie State University majoring in Visual Communication and Digital Media Arts with a concentration in Animation and Motion Graphics. She has a wide variety of skills ranging from traditional and mixed media art to graphic design and digital illustration. Her passion for creativity stems from her childhood love of cartoons and video games. Phonché started competing in ACSI art competitions at 8 years old and worked hard to perfect her foundational drawing skills. She took her first digital art class her senior year of high school and was enamored with the artform. Since then, she has used her creative skills to do freelance graphic design work, and even start her own business called AltBlacKid with her partner Jordan King. They travel to local conventions to sell prints and other merchandise featuring Black characters to bring diversity to the anime and gaming space. In 2019, they were featured on WUSA9 for being some of the youngest vendors in the BlerDCon 2019 Artist Alley. In Fall of 2021, Phonché completed an internship program with OVFX, an animation studio located in Baltimore, Maryland best known for producing Netflix’s animated show, Kulipari.
